Current location: Oratorio di S.Bernardino - Museo Diocesano
Original location: Basilica e convento di San Francesco
DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION
The fresco is commonly identified by art critics as the figure of King Solomon, although sometimes catalogued as "Saint with Book and Scepter" or "Prophet."
This fragment was part of a complex geometric and figurative decoration that adorned the vaults and walls of the Franciscan chapter house, rediscovered under a layer of plaster in the 19th century.
It is a fresco on plaster, later removed using the detachment technique to ensure its preservation and then applied to a glass resin panel, a conservative solution that ensures structural stability and lightness.
The dimensions of 133 x 93 cm, a typical measurement for figures inserted into arches or painted architectural frames, further clarify its origin.
