DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION
The panel measures approximately 72 x 47.8 cm.
The work represents a precious example of early Renaissance Sienese painting. It depicts the Syracusan martyr with her classical iconographic attributes, immersed in the characteristic stamped gold background, typical of the local school.
The work dates back to around 1440, a period in which art historical criticism notes strong similarities with the work of the so-called Master of the Osservanza, corresponding to Sano di Pietro's early period.
