DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION
This is a tempera and gold painting on a circular panel, 41.5 cm in diameter.
It was almost certainly part of the upper spire of a large polyptych that was dismembered over the centuries.
The angel's elegant profile, the grace of his gestures, and the fine details of his wings are clearly inspired by the great masters of 14th-century Sienese art, particularly Simone Martini's Annunciation.
