DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION
The Nativity of the Virgin is a painting by the Baroque painter and priest Giovan Battista Ramaciotti.
The principal work is a fresco/canvas located inside the Basilica of San Francesco in Siena. There is also a smaller preparatory oil on canvas model (31 x 65 cm), dated between 1650 and 1660, housed in the Palatine Gallery of Palazzo Pitti in Florence.
The painting is clearly influenced by the painting of Pietro da Cortona and the Baroque devotion of the period.
