We invite you to visit the exhibition set up in the churchyard of the Basilica of Asciano in collaboration with the Parish of Sant'Agata and with the patronage of the Municipal Administration. This exhibition aims to enhance the historical and artistic heritage of the Asciano area through a photographic journey dedicated to the Marian representations found in the churches, oratories, tabernacles, roadside crucifixes, and other works of art along the ancient route of the Asciano Way.
The main objective of the exhibition is to highlight the profound Marian devotion that has characterized the pilgrimage to Loreto over the centuries; Asciano is a significant stop on this pilgrimage, both religiously and culturally.
The exhibition presented here retraces the key moments in the life of the Virgin Mary and recounts her sweetness, strength, and spirituality.
The Virgin's face has been a source of inspiration, devotion, and mystery for centuries. Visitors can explore the many representations of the Mother of Christ through images of artworks found throughout our region, particularly along the Ascianese Way of St. Laureta.
Each photograph becomes a bridge between art and faith, between tradition and modernity: a gaze that invites reflection on Mary's universal role as a symbol of maternal love, compassion, and hope. This small but intense visual journey forces us to question the beauty, sacredness, and humanity encapsulated in a single face.
Mary thus becomes a universal cultural symbol, embodying faith, grace, motherhood, pain, and hope.
